Students tour at Tipton-Haynes Historical Site

Recently, the second-grade class visited the historical site Tipton-Haynes in Johnson City. Students toured the antebellum home of the Haynes family, where they learned about the daily lives and clothing styles of the time. They even had the chance to play with some of the most popular toys from the 1800s. They discovered how scarce and expensive paper was and learned how people had to make their paper. Students were then instructed on how to create their paper from recycled paper. Afterward, the class explored a nearby limestone cave. Everyone, including the teachers, enjoyed their time at Tipton-Haynes, even Mrs. Freeman remarked, "It was a great field trip!"
