A Word from Art and Music!
March masterpieces are filling the art room at Haynesfield this month! Our 2nd and 3rd grade students have been hard at work creating pieces for their Appalachian folk themed art and music performance. The art show will take place this Thursday, March 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please stop by to checkout the amazing talent and effort that our students have to offer.
We are also gearing up for the 10th annual Virginia Duff arts festival. The festival will take place at Fairmount Elementary School on March 24th. The festival will showcase a select number of student artwork from each school within the Bristol Tennessee City Schools district. Accompanying the art will be various music performances throughout the evening. This event is free to the public, and a great way to show your support for the arts in our community.

Lots of exciting things coming up in music lately! Our 2nd and 3rd grade music performance is this Thursday, March 10th at 6:30pm (art show starts at 6). The kiddos have been working really hard on “Songs of the Mountains,” and they are really looking forward to showing off their skills. We’d love for families to view art first and then students should be ready to meet at 6:20-6:25 in assigned classrooms to prepare to go onstage while their grownups find their seats in the gym.
Another exciting event coming up is the Virginia Duff Arts Festival, which will take place Thursday, March 24th at Fairmount Elementary. You can see a slideshow of fun elementary musical activities, art from our school, and listen to the middle and high school bands and choirs all in one space!
While the 2nd and 3rd graders have been busy getting ready for a performance, the other grades have been learning about “old-time” Appalachian music and the Bristol Sessions. If you have a chance over Spring Break the following link takes you to a fun scavenger hunt where your students can see local history first-hand, from the Bristol sign to the “Take the Stage” sculpture! https://birthplaceofcountrymusic.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/2020_BCM_StudentActivitySheets_BristolScavengerHunt.pdf
